FAQ

How are Tooth gems applied?

Gems are bonded with Dental Grade Adhesive, just like braces! No drilling or pain is involved what so ever. The process is very simple and minimal. Single and duo gems only take up to 20 minutes from walking in to walking out. More detailed designs do take a little more time.

What kind of Gems do you use?

Genuine Swarovski crystals. They are lead free and non toxic. They do NOT contain dangerous plastics or acrylics, and are safe for oral use. They are stain resistant with a flat back and foiled platinum surface. We only order our Gems through certified and safe businesses.

We have all sorts of shapes, sizes and colors available. If you’re unsure of what you want you can always message us about it!

How long do Tooth Gems last?

When applied and taken care of properly Tooth Gems can last anywhere from 1 month to a year, even 2 years. The lifetime of a Tooth Gem is entirely dependent on the individual, gem size/design, location, your at home care and can even come down to the natural acidity of your saliva.

If for some reason a Tooth Gem falls off in less than 30 days, I will replace the Gem at no cost to you. (However, if there is adhesive left on the tooth, it will be necessary to change the location of the new Gem. You can also have the adhesive removed by your dentist prior to reapplication.)

Can you take my Tooth Gems off?

Unfortunately no. This needs to be done by your dentist. They can safely remove your Gems and polish away and residual adhesive left.

How do I take care of my new Tooth Gem?

You can do most things you normally would! After 24 hours you can still brush your teeth as you normally would, after 48 you can use an electric tooth brush! You can eat and drink as you normally would as well. We just advise that you are mindful of eating tacky food items such a taffy and biting into hard foods like you would with and apple.

Can I still get my teeth cleaned by my dentist with Tooth Gems?

Absolutely! Your dentist will just be cleaning around your Gems and you’re cleaning will be much like that of one without Tooth Gems. Personally, I have never had a problem with this. My dentist thinks Tooth Gems are an absolute riot and loves seeing them.

I have veneers, can I still get Tooth Gems?

Unfortunately no. We are only able to Gem natural teeth. For this reason we also are unable to Gem any kind of false teeth. If you’re currently using a retainer, Tooth Gems will also not be a good fit for you. But when you’re no longer using it we’d be happy to do them for you!

I’m under 18, can I get a Tooth Gem?

No. NYS does not allow techs to work on anyone under the age of 18, even with a guardian present.

I don’t want a single Gem, I want a cool design! What do I do?!

If there’s a Tooth Gem design you have in mind that’s a little more involved you can always shoot us a DM or email us at dk@blackadderbeautybar.com to discuss your idea and pricing.

Do you carry gold pieces?

Occasionally I will have gold pieces in stock. We do do them, however I don’t normally keep them on hand. If there’s a gold piece you are interested in I will happy order it for you but a deposit is required.

What should I do before my Tooth Gem appointment?

The only thing I ask is that you come with a clean mouth. If you’re looking to to do a multi gem design, it’s best to note this during the booking stage of your appointment that way we can plan and allot the proper amount of time for your appointment.

What’s the immediate after care for my Tooth Gem Appointment?

Avoid eating or drinking anything for the first 2 hours after application. Especially hard foods and candies. WATER IS OKAY! DO NOT pick at the gem, you will feel it for the first couple days, but after that you won’t notice them at all. You will want to avoid manually brushing your teeth for the first 24 hours, 48 hours if you use an electric tooth brush. After this you can resume your normal dental hygiene routine.
